Low Carbon Farming are striving to reduce agricultural carbon emissions in Britain by upgrading greenhouse heating systems, leading to more sustainable food production. Their first two locations in Norfolk and Suffolk will create 360 new jobs, while the 70 acres of greenhouses will be capable of producing 12% of the UK’s tomatoes with a 75% reduction in carbon footprint.
Working with contractor LPL Construction Services at the Suffolk location, we needed to provide a hygienic and durable washroom solution. With many of the jobs being manual, a thorough hand wash is required which can lead to splashing, meaning a larger hand wash area was necessary.
Our WT1 Sloping Thermoformed Wash Troughs were selected in the Quartz Grey colourway for the project. The wash troughs feature a thermoformed body with minimal joints, this not only makes cleaning effortless but also enhances hygiene standards. This coupled with the nonporous, durable solid surface material ensures that the wash trough can withstand the rigors of daily use and frequent cleaning, making them a reliable and long-lasting solution.
The wash troughs were chosen to sit on Cantilever Brackets, ensuring that the area underneath could be thoroughly cleaned. To complete the hand wash station, Deva Sensor Taps were pre-plumbed into the wash troughs. Sensor taps are ideal to ensure maximum user hygiene, delivering water without touch. The automatic shut-off also reduces water consumption, ideal for the environmentally conscious site.
