A Superloo is a self-contained washroom solution which includes a WC, hand wash and hand drying facilities within the one room. They are often found in commercial office buildings and we have seen a steady increase in them over the last few years due to the rise of gender neutral washrooms. Often deemed more hygienic than a standard run of washroom cubicles, a Superloo will contain a sleek, narrow wash trough or vanity basin that fits snug inside the individual washroom. 

We generally operate on a 4-week lead time. In this time the wash troughs and vanity units will be designed to meet your washroom layout, our team of expert solid surface fabricators will carefully manufacture your solid surface products, plumb your waste and tap holes (should this be required) and finally pass through our quality control team, before being dispatched. If you need to achieve a set delivery date, then please make us aware of this when you submit your enquiry.

If you are working with a dry environment and restricted budget, then Melamine Faced Chipboard (MFC) and High Pressure Laminate (HPL) IPS panels are ideal. For more demanding environments then Solid Grade Laminate (SGL) or Solid Surface is more suitable. Both SGL and Solid Surface are also totally impervious to water so suitable for wet environments. All of these will allow easy access to the plumbing area and can add a splash of colour to any washroom, they can even co-ordinate with your washroom cubicles.

The main difference between wash troughs and vanity units is that wash troughs have one continuous ‘basin’ with no space to separate users. Whereas vanity units typically have multiple individual basins, to cater for a desired number of users. Wash troughs are more favourable in narrower areas, as vanities tend to be a minimum of 500mm deep to accommodate the individual basins and taps. 

This feature is completely optional, if you’re purchasing your taps through us then you can request for these to be pre-plumbed along with the waste outlet – this will save valuable time on site. Just let us know when placing your order if this is required.

Our WT3 Slim wash trough profile has been created to comply with the School Output Specification for Sanitaryware, published by the Department for Education. The thermoformed trough body means there are no exposed joins for germs or bacteria to thrive in. We recommend pairing these school wash troughs with sensor taps and soap dispensers, to ensure the spread of germs is kept to a minimum. Wash troughs also have the added benefit of encouraging pupils through the washroom and help avoid excessive water spillage and flooding.

Wash troughs and vanity units are typically supported by cantilever brackets anchored to the wall or supported with a purpose-built vanity underframe system. With our vanity underframe’s you have the choice of laminate or solid surface IPS panels.

Our range of solid surface wash troughs and vanities are available in 12 standard colours from the bright Yellow Sand to the more corporate Clay Grey – we are pleased to say there is no price uplift for any colours within this range. We also have a range of 10 premium solid surface colours for the more luxurious project.   

The maximum length of any single, individual wash trough or vanity unit is 3000mm. This is so it can be transported efficiently and easily manoeuvred around most sites during the installation process. To give the appearance of a longer trough or vanity, multiple units can be easily connected on site to achieve the desired length. Our Solid Surface Superloo Vanity Units have a maximum length of 1820mm to sit neatly within the confined space.

In short, yes. Solid Surface Wash Troughs are becoming increasingly popular within the healthcare industry and it’s easy to see why. As infection control is paramount, non-porous, seamless materials tend to be favourable, cue solid surface. There is nowhere for harmful viruses or germs to accumulate and hide, making regular cleaning and disinfecting easy.

Spacing between taps can vary considerably depending on the environment and purpose, but typically 400mm-600mm centres is normal for most standard wash troughs.

Solid surface is a man-made material, manufactured from natural minerals, acrylic polymer resins and pigments. It normally takes form as a flat sheet with the decorative face colour running throughout its thickness. The material can be fabricated into 2 and 3 dimensional forms and typically represents natural stone products like Terrazzo, Marble, and Quartz. 

Solid surface is just as resilient as natural stone, but far more versatile. The feature that truly sets solid surface apart from the competition is its seamless fabrication and thermoforming ability, meaning corners and joints that would typically be joined using adhesive or silicone, can be totally seamless with nowhere for germs to thrive.

By thermoforming our solid surface wash trough bodies from a single piece of solid surface, we are able to produce a seamless, smooth, curved wash trough without hard edges that can create dirt traps.

Solid surface wash troughs and vanities are renowned for having low maintenance costs as usually any damage can be repaired rather than the unit needing to be replaced in full. We would always recommend a site inspection by a specialist to judge the extent of the damaged area, but most of the time it can be easily repaired and often without trace.

Regular cleaning is essential in ensuring your solid surface applications stay in pristine condition. We recommend the Bar Keepers Friend Power Spray which is a multi-purpose, surface cleaner suitable for solid surface. This can be used for regular cleaning, along with warm soapy water to keep your wash trough or vanity clean. Always make sure the solid surface is fully dried using a microfibre cloth. As solid surface is a non-porous material, it is more resistant to staining in comparison to natural stone or marble. However, there are a few substances that can be tougher to remove with just a standard surface cleaner. Though solid surface is a robust material, washrooms are high traffic environments and daily wear and tear is inevitable. If after a few years you feel your solid surface wash trough or vanity could use a refresh, it can be re-sanded and restored it to its original smooth, satin finish by a specialist.

For any chrome, brass or stainless steel taps, the Bar Keepers Friend Power Spray can be used regularly to remove any marks, stains or limescale build up. 

Our standard Waste is a 1 ½ inch strainer waste which can be installed upon your request.

The simple answer is yes, for the best results use a conventional wood cutting hole saw and drill to your desired size. We are also happy to pre-plumb your wash troughs and vanity units in our factory for ease, freeing up valuable installation time on site.
